High-profile names lining up for 32nd District primary

Four years ago, Hudson County’s 32nd Assembly District in 2020 was driven by the Democratic Party machine, which swiftly filled the Assembly seats with its chosen candidates.

Come June, with the state’s end of the party-line on the ballot, the Hudson County Democratic Organization could find itself on the outside looking in, with none of the currently declared candidates for the Assembly will likely have party backing.

Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla has officially launched a bid for the Democratic nomination, joining former Murphy administration official Katie Brennan running as an independent and incumbent Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez (D-Hudson.)

The free-for-all feel of this race — and others around the state — will probably be the first real evidence of what the impact will be of New Jersey’s changed political landscape.
